Job Description
House Manager
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable House Manager to take full leadership responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy UHNW private residence in London.
This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys being involved in the household and takes pride in keeping everything running smoothly. The family regularly hosts parties, dinners and private entertaining, so this is a lively and varied environment where no two days are quite the same.
The ideal person will be energetic, passionate about their work and naturally proactive - someone who is just as comfortable walking the property and checking on maintenance as they are managing staff, schedules and budgets from the office. This is not a traditional 9-to-5 role and requires someone who is flexible and happy to be involved when the household needs them.
Salary: Starting from £ 100K TBD
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Take full day-to-day ownership of the household's operations and standards, reporting directly to the Principal.
- Be visibly hands-on — actively moving around the property to check on maintenance, presentation and staff performance.
- Build and lead the household team.
- Draw on a strong personal network ("black book") of contacts to source additional or temporary staff as needed.
- Use connections in the events world to help support the household's frequent parties, dinners and entertaining.
- Manage household scheduling, diaries and calendars, and maintain accurate records using Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Recruit, train and performance-manage staff, including international team members.
- Oversee household budgets, accounting and reporting.
- Maintain full emergency and security procedures across the household.
- Keep the Principal fully informed of household operations and act in line with their views and instructions.
Requirements:
- Senior background in house management, ideally within large UHNWI households
- Proven experience managing a team, including international staff
- Hands-on and active, comfortable being on their feet checking the property regularly
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Excellent Excel, calendar management and Microsoft Office skills
- Genuinely flexible and comfortable with weekend work, variable hours
- Passionate and energetic
- Well-connected, with an existing network for sourcing additional/temporary staff and supporting events
- Based within approximately 1 hour of Central London
The family is looking for someone who will take genuine pride in the property, build strong relationships with the household team and become a trusted and reliable part of the operation.
If you have the relevant experience and are currently based in the UK, we would love to hear from you.
Please send us your most recent CV and references to apply.
